I have archived the crescendos of societal upheaval and political storms, capturing the turbulent rhythms of South Korea's recent historical symphony in a volatile dance of power and politics. My work maps the story of the candlelight revolution, the seismic impeachment of a president, and the simmering tensions on the Korean peninsula, heightened by the geopolitical chess match between North Korea and the United States, through a carefully chosen tapestry of news articles.
My artistic investigation explores the complex interweave of socio-political fabric in an attempt to reveal the shadows that global power architectures cast on the fabric of personal lives. With a landscape where the orchestration of power reverberates through the corridors of countless lives, subtly scripting destinies with the ink of external forces, each print echoes the unsettling realization of the immense influence wielded by a select few.
My journey has been driven by my personal resonances with the ups and downs of political tempests, living within the beating heart of South Korea's unfolding histories. Every recorded instant is a mirror of a tangled life in an unknowable world where the winds of external forces shape the sails of personal fates.
I have purposefully navigated the storylines in order to create this documentary project, choosing pieces that shed light on the crucial pivotal crossroads. My work seeks to foster a nuanced understanding by presenting these carefully selected historical echoes and encouraging contemplation on the deep intersections between politics, power, and the personal in the backdrop of our shared global destiny.
